My name is Danny Pearson, and it’s the honour of my life to serve as the Labor Member for the State Seat of Essendon, as well as the Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, and Minister for Finance.
My wife and I live in beautiful Ascot Vale, where we are raising our five children. I understand the pressures on families, the juggle of work-life balance, and the fears and hopes we all hold for our kids.
My interest in politics was inspired by my own history. My grandmother’s family lost everything in the Great Depression, and she endured a life of hardship. For my grandmother, the Australian Labor Party was the only institution that truly protected working people.
I still believe in that ideal. That’s why I stood for Parliament in 2014, and then again in 2018 and 2022. I’m working to be part of the solution – to help create a fairer, more just and secure society for us, and for coming generations.
As a former President of the Early Learning Association Australia, I know first-hand that a world class education is a key investment in our future. This is why the Allan Government has funded projects in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools across the electorate – improving access and outcomes for the youngest members of our community. We’ve invested more than $60 million on major school building upgrades since I became the Member for Essendon.
We have delivered more than 50 local projects across Essendon, Strathmore, Strathmore Heights, Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale, Travancore and Flemington. They include an environmental plan to help protect one of our greatest natural assets the Moonee Ponds Creek and Maribyrnong River; increased and improved train and tram services, and the removal of the Buckley Street Level Crossing. We are rebuilding public housing to provide modern, energy efficient, affordable accommodation for vulnerable members of our community.
The Allan Labor Government is making statewide investments in transport infrastructure, health and hospital care, law and order, and direct cost of living relief. We are committed to listening, responding to new challenges, solving existing problems, and investing for the future.
It is a privilege to serve our community, and helping my constituents is my top priority. Should you require any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact my office on (03) 9370 7777 or email me via danny.pearson@parliament.vic.gov.au. Together we can build a better community.
