Local cricketers from the Strathmore Heights Cricket Club and Strathmore Cricket Club can look forward to putting more runs on the board, thanks to the completion of the Boeing Reserve cricket training facility, backed by the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Essendon Danny Pearson today joined club members at the popular Strathmore Heights ground to officially open the new training facility, made possible by a $100,000 investment from the Government’s Community Cricket Program.

The new four wicket training facility replaces the antiquated nets providing safer and better located facilities.

More quality spaces to train and play allows local cricket to develop more teams including those featuring women and girls and people of all-abilities.

The new publicly accessible facility will also serve as the perfect place for locals to enjoy a casual hit of cricket with friends and family, further reinforcing Boeing Reserve as a local sport and recreation hub.

The Victorian Budget 2023/24 is providing more than $213 million to deliver new and improved community sports infrastructure and support initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sports clubs and organisations.

This brings the Allan Labor Government’s investment into community sport and active recreation infrastructure to more than $1.9 billion over the past decade.

Investments like these are all about supporting the development of strong, active and healthy communities through high quality, accessible, well-designed local infrastructure.

Danny Pearson MP acknowledged project partners Moonee Valley City Council for its $303,000 contribution and Cricket Australia for its $30,000 contribution.
