Sudan is currently experiencing a crisis. There have been months of peaceful pro‑democracy protests in Sudan, which have led to the President stepping down.

RAMADAN

I am really pleased to acknowledge that our Muslim community here in Victoria are observing the holy month of Ramadan, and I warmly wish them Ramadan Mubarak.

ESSENDON PRIMARY SCHOOL CORRESPONDENCE

Recently I received an email from two students from Essendon Primary School, Vivian Startari and Sienna Ebriham, who wrote: We are students from Essendon Primary School who are exploring Human Rights as part of our Inquiry unit.

Ascot Vale Primary School Renovation

I direct my adjournment request to the Minister for Education as well, and the action I seek is for the minister to come out and visit Ascot Vale Primary School and officially open the school, which has recently been renovated.

SRI LANKA TERRORIST ATTACKS

At the outset and in joining the Premier’s condolence motion I do want to say that I am deeply saddened by the events in Sri Lanka.

CHRISTCHURCH MOSQUES TERRORIST ATTACK

EATING DISORDERS FAMILIES AUSTRALIA

I was honoured to recently meet Christine Naismith from Eating Disorders Families Australia. Christine is both a constituent and a board member for EDFA.

ESSENDON ELECTORATE CAR PARKING

Members of my community have expressed their concerns about the introduction of paid parking to the City of Moonee Valley. This decision will have a significant impact on sporting precincts in my electorate.

Fair Work Amendment 2018

I am delighted to join the debate and make a contribution on the Fair Work (Commonwealth Powers) Amendment Bill 2018.

National Australia Bank

The Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry has uncovered some appalling actions and behaviours by some of our big banks.

BUNJILS MARROUN

On Australia Day the City of Moonee Valley held its very first healing ceremony, called Bunjils Marroun.

Integrity and Accountability Legislation Amendment

I am delighted to make a contribution on the Integrity and Accountability Legislation Amendment (Public Interest Disclosures, Oversight and Independence) Bill 2018. With the house’s indulgence I would like to congratulate the Manager of Opposition Business. With the departure of the former member for Box Hill and the retirement of the former member for Sandringham, the Manager of Opposition Business now holds the title of father of the house. He is the last member of this place who can recall seeing Jeff Kennett at the dispatch box when he was Premier. That is something to note, as is the fact that I am delighted that there are so many new members on our side of this place who were recently elected.

FLEMINGTON EDUCATION PLAN

The Flemington education plan was funded in the May budget of this year, and it is a vitally important initiative for my community owing to the rate of population growth at schools like Mount Alexander College.

Essendon electorate

I direct my constituency question to the Minister for Sport, and I ask: what is the latest information about providing funding for the Chris Lane memorial Little League field at Boeing Reserve in Strathmore?

Maribyrnong Park Football Club

I direct my adjournment matter to the Minister for Water, and the action I seek is that a meeting be convened between Melbourne Water, the City of Moonee Valley and the Maribyrnong Park Football Club, otherwise known as the Marby Lions, who play at Maribyrnong Park, to discuss options to improve the playing surface of the oval at Maribyrnong Park.

Chris Lane Memorial Little League Field

I direct my constituency question to the Minister for Sport, and I ask: what is the latest information about providing funding for the Chris Lane memorial Little League field at Boeing Reserve in Strathmore?

Kindergarten

I direct my constituency question to the Minister for Families and Children in the other place, and I ask: what is the latest information about providing 15 hours of four-year-old kinder for the culturally and linguistically diverse community in the state district of Essendon beyond the expiry of the current national partnership agreement?

Maribyrnong River Native Fish Revival Project

The action I seek is for the Essendon Fish Protection Society & Anglers Club to meet with the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) to discuss the Maribyrnong River native fish revival project.
