Community Consultations for the Buckley Street Level Crossing Removal Will Commence Soon

Project fact sheets will be distributed in the local area over the coming days, with more details about the project and how to get involved. The Level Crossing Removal Authority will begin engaging with traders in October and community drop-in sessions will follow in November.

Throughout the planning stage of this project, a range of design options for the removal of the level crossing have been investigated. However, a rail bridge over Buckley Street has now been ruled out for a range reasons, including the extensive land acquisition required to build it, and the significant disruption it would cause during construction. The remaining options – including lowering the rail line, or elevating or lowering Buckley Street – remain under consideration and open to community feedback.
